Sonja Gardien is a photo artist who explores the potential of still and moving images. Her work ranges from portraiture and landscapes to unexpected combinations of multiple images.
Sonja was born in New Zealand, of New Zealand and Dutch descent. She worked in Auckland as an accountant before qualifying with a Bachelor of Design and Visual Arts, majoring in photography. For the past two years, Sonja has exhibited as part of the Auckland Festival of Photography.
Sonja is currently working on a number of personal art projects involving photography and moving image. She also has a passion for people and places and has produced a selection of books on the subject.
